2022 Community Foundation Grant Wrap Up
June 14, 2022The 2022 granting cycle is a wrap! We had a very busy and exciting grant season at the Campbell River Community Foundation (CRCF) with both our Community Grants and our Neighbourhood Small Grants streams open at the same time.
Community Grants are sourced from the interest earned on the CRCF Endowment Fund which currently stands at just over $3.6 million dollars. This fund earns interest each year and it is the interest that is used to provide grants to the community. By accessing the interest only, the fund continues to grow with each donation and therefore returns more interest for distribution to local charities every year.
The 2022 CRCF Community Grants reviewed a total of $140,000 in application requests. The CRCF Grants Committee, consisting of board members and community representatives, met to review all of the applications. A total of 24 applications were received and 15 grants were approved for a total of $67,497.75. Of these 24 applications, 5 were referred to the Covid-19 Relief Fund where an additional $24,984 was granted. See our successful Community Grants projects for 2022 here.
The CRCF Covid-19 Relief Fund is now dissolved as the funds from this initiative have been exhausted. The CRCF COVID-19 Relief Fund was raised through the generous donations of the people and businesses of Campbell River. This generosity ensured that the most vulnerable people in our community were looked after during the very difficult months of the pandemic. Thank you, Campbell River!
The Covid-19 Task Force also consisted of CRCF board members and dedicated community members who volunteered their time and efforts to review the applications received. With their help, CRCF was able to grant over $200,000 directly to our community since 2020. See our Covid-19 summary for a list of charities supported by this initiative here.
Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) is a program funded by a partnership between CRCF and the Victoria Foundation. The NSG program provides funding to individuals who have an idea or project that will connect neighbours or a community.
