I am a life long resident of Campbell River except for the few years I was away for post secondary education. My career took me into the field of law where I obtained a paralegal degree and as such was employed in this profession for over 30 years.
I have been fortunate to be able to get involved in numerous local clubs and associations. Now that I am retired I find I can offer even more of my time to some of the organizations in Campbell River that I am passionate about. I am delighted that I can use my volunteer time to give back to a community that has always supported me.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, I’ve worked in the financial sector since 2005. I have been providing financial advice since 2007 with a specialization in financial planning starting in 2011. I’ve worked with not for profit organizations such as Rainbow Refugee, Positive Living Society, North Island Pride Society, and Junior Achievers. I have worked extensively with the Lore Krill housing Coop, as a board member and treasurer including specific projects regarding funding irregularities with Homes BC (BC Housing), and BC Coop Federation. I take great pride in the work I did with Lore Krill as I was able to utilize my professional skill set to create a tangible difference in the future of the Co-ops members. My spouse and I moved to Campbell River in the spring of 2017 in an effort to realize a more favorable work-life balance. Since our relocation I’ve been seeking a space to utilize my skill set to give back to my community. Personally when I’m not at work I spend time with the family dog, my spouse and the restoration a ’63 Land Rover.

My name is Tara Ashley. I have been working in the insurance industry since 2013 as an Insurance Broker specializing in personal lines products. My first 5 years in the industry were spent working in Courtenay at First Insurance/The Cooperators. I then made the transition to Waypoint Insurance here in Campbell River.
I have completed many Virtual Assistant courses to gain further knowledge on social media branding as well as utilize various online organizational tools.
During my time at First Insurance I was active in the Secret Santa committee which provides Christmas Gifts to under privileged children in the Comox Valley. I have also spent time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity as well as multiple community impact days.
Being born and raised in Campbell River I truly have a passion for our community. I am a firm believer that looking ahead and planning for the future should be continuous and I believe that is exactly what the Campbell River Community Foundation can provide for generations to come.
When I am not working you will find me outdoors spending time with our dog, in the kitchen cooking, hosting dinner parties, doing yoga or staying active.

Chair’s Message
I am honoured to serve as chair of the Campbell River Community Foundation board—a dedicated board of creative, skilled and compassionate community volunteers.
The Campbell River Community Foundation, first established in 1990, is perhaps Campbell River’s least known asset. The concept is simple yet powerful! Under the guidance of our Campbell River Community Foundation board a permanent fund has been created to steward the invested contributions of our generous community donors. The interest accrued annually is awarded in grants to non-profit organizations. To date over $500,000 has been given to support important, often life changing projects and events in the greater Campbell River area. Examples of previous recipients are documented on our website.
We use Vital Signs, a broad community assessment tool, to identify community needs and ensure that those who most need our assistance are served by dedicated non-profit community groups.
Please join us in leaving a legacy! Your voice and financial support can be an important guide in ensuring Foundation funds assist those who most need assistance. We have board members eager to provide more information if you are interested in learning more about the operation of the Campbell River Community Foundation.
Together we can continue to enrich life in Campbell River by contributing to a fund that will perpetually help the greater Campbell River community grow and flourish!
Sincerely,
Doug Lang,
President of the Campbell River Community Foundation
