🤩New Board Member Introduction!🤩

A great big welcome to Cathy Voth!

Cathy is a retired Chartered Professional Accountant (CMA), most recently having worked at Chan Nowosad Boates where she provided business consulting services to many small businesses in Campbell River along with standard tax and financial statement offerings.

Hailing from Ontario originally, Cathy and her husband Jim have lived in Campbell River since 2003. Prior to living in Campbell River, they lived in Smithers, BC, and have two adult children of whom they are very proud. Cathy enjoys travelling internationally as well as locally with her family in their travel trailer. Mostly, Cathy walks a lot, plays with her dogs, and is an avid reader and member of a book club. Cathy’s parents instilled in her the importance of volunteering and participating in the community where you live and work. Cathy has held many board positions, coached children’s sports teams, and led youth groups. She understands our community organizations cannot run without volunteers and believes that strong community involvement is invaluable to enhancing the culture of our community.

Cathy has sat on the boards for the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce, Multicultural & Immigrant Services Association of the North Vancouver Island, Museum of Campbell River, and Tidemark Theatre Society. She brings an understanding of financial affairs and business acumen to the Board of the Campbell River Community Foundation, in addition to a solid knowledge of board governance. Her values are based on respect, patience, tolerance, and fairness, and she is most happy when solutions result in a “win” for all parties involved.

While we have yet to conduct our election, we are pleased to share that Cathy has accepted the nomination of Treasurer! We are so excited to have Cathy join the Board of Directors.

Staff Member Introduction!

A northern girl with a West Coast heart, Michaela has lived all over BC but now considers herself a permanent resident of Campbell River. Recognizing the unique beauty of Campbell River and motivated to be close to her four-generation family home on Savary Island, Michaela moved here in 2013. When she isn’t working or volunteering in the community, she can be found on a boat or a sandy beach with her family or running in the forest with her dog.

Michaela has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Care and Education and developed her career as a Supported Child Development Program Consultant where she worked with families and children from all walks of life.

After being invited to join the Board of Directors at the Young Professionals of Campbell River, Michaela found her love of volunteering, participating in philanthropic endeavours, organizing events, and liaising with the broader community.

In pursuit of lifelong learning and striving to enhance the common good of the community of Campbell River, Michaela achieved a Professional Specialization Certificate in Public Sector Management through the University of Victoria School of Public Administration. Her training and interest in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and program evaluation led her to become the first Executive Director of the Campbell River Community Foundation.

Michaela is proud to work within and lead the prestigious board of directors and is committed to learning and growing along with the Endowment Fund and the community impact of the CRCF.
